1995年～2001年 稲垣千賀子氏に師事
2001年～2004年 ミハイル・ヴォスクレセンスキー氏に師事
2000年～現在 二宮裕子氏に師事
2004年 桐朋女子高等学校音楽科（共学）卒業
2005年 パリ・エコール・ノルマル音楽院卒業
2006年～ 桐朋学園大学ソリスト・ディプロマコース在籍

ピティナ･ピアノコンペティションにおいて、1995年Ｂ級金賞、1996年Ｃ級銅賞、1997年Ｄ級銀賞、1998年Ｅ級銀賞、2000年Ｇ級金賞、2001年コンチェルト部門最優秀賞受賞。2003年特級グランプリ受賞。第1回福田靖子賞受賞。

大輪の花を咲かせた関本昌平
ピアニスト関本昌平は他に類をみない音楽家である。深い情感に満ち溢れ、強く訴えかけてくる彼の演奏を耳にした瞬間、人々は彼が自分達の想像を遥かに超えていることを思い知らされる。彼の温かみのある魔法のような音色は、今の時代の演奏家には極めて稀な豊かな色彩と個性に満ち溢れており、そして彼にしかない持って生まれたリズム感は真の大家のものである。

私が初めて昌平の演奏を聞いたのは彼が12歳のときである。そのとき彼が弾いたリストのメフィストワルツとショパンのスケルツォは既に力強さとドラマチックな情感に溢れていた。この忘れることのできない演奏を聞いてから8年が経ち、彼の驚くべき技巧は今大輪の花を咲かせている。彼はベートーベンやリスト、プロコフィエフ、ラフマニノフ、スクリャビン、ショパン等レパートリーを増やしてきており、このことが彼の知的な視野を一貫して広げ、驚嘆すべき音楽家魂を一層深めてきている。
今や彼は文句なく最も注目すべきコンサートピアニストの一人であり、20歳にして既に21世紀の偉大なピアニストの一人となっている。

2005 graduated Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris
2006 entered Toho Gakuen School of Music, Soloist Diploma Course
He received prizes in the PTNA Piano Competition starting from the gold prize in level B (1995), bronze prize in level C (1996), silver prize in level D (1997), silver prize in level E (1998), gold prize in level G (2000), grand prize in the concerto division (2001), grand prix of the special grade and the 1st Yasuko Fukuda prize (2003).

He successfully performed with the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Salzburg Chamber Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, etc. He gave numerous recitals in New York, Paris, London, many cities in Japan. His teachers include Chikako Inagaki, Mikhail Voskresensky and Yuko Ninomiya. He is Rohm Music Foundation Scholar.
Shohei is already one of the great pianists of the 21st Century
In my opinion, pianist Shohei Sekimoto is unique - a musician who conquers your imagination from the first note with his deeply felt and intensely communicative playing. His warm, silver tone has a color and individuality which is extremely rare among modern performers and his distinctive and natural rhythmic approach is that of a real master. When I first heard Shohei at age 12, his performance of Liszt's Mephisto Waltz and a Chopin Scherzo already had a powerful and dramatic lyricism. In the eight years since those memorable performances his tremendous virtuosity has come into full flower. His growing repertoire of music by Beethoven, Liszt, Prokofieff, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin and Chopin continues to broaden his intellectual outlook and deepen his astonishing musicianship. He is certainly among the most compelling pianists on the stage today and, at 20, he is already one of the great pianists of the 21st Century.
